‘Before the election is after the election’ – that’s one way of putting it, even though two state parliaments have just been re-elected this weekend; there will now be a break until 18 April 2027, when the state parliamentary elections in Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein take place. But the topic of the election will remain in the minds of the public. For it is clear that the Nazis, in the form of the AfD, have once again become socially acceptable. A few years ago, hardly anyone would have believed this; it is also surprising that large companies, such as a well-known dairy products manufacturer, are openly backing the AfD. One can only hope that Germany’s established parties will finally wake up. There are plenty of pressing issues that need to be properly communicated and tackled at long last. After all, pensions are no longer secure, even if Ms Weidel and her ilk maintain that it is solely the fault of foreigners and that Putin’s gas supplies would make everything easier.

In the US, King Trump is facing the problem that he is currently being sued by the very media companies whose access to the White House he has blocked. This is undoubtedly also an attempt to exert pressure to ensure positive coverage of him and his glorious policies for billionaires, so that they may become even richer.
