In the Lower Rhine region, the weather today, Wednesday, is still pleasantly sunny with passing clouds and a temperature of around 17 °C. But you can already tell that autumn is slowly setting in.

Donald Trump, the US President who is perhaps regarded as a saint by his supporters – and who certainly sees himself that way too – has now congratulated the far-right AfD party on its election victory in Saxony-Anhalt. It’s a relief that he’s only interfering here with words, because, after all, a military intervention in Iran simply wouldn’t work. The AfD and all the Nazis in Germany are, of course, delighted to have such a fan.

And Trump again. The escalation of his ‘America First’ tariff policy continues. Trump has now banned the import of various products from Canada. Hopefully his voters will realise that the bulk of the promised wealth isn’t reaching them, but is ending up in Trump’s pockets and those of his billionaire friends.

Make the most of the pleasant weather whilst it lasts, before it really starts to feel like autumn.
