The weather is set to get worse, but so far the sun is still holding out on the Lower Rhine. Our American friends, represented by Donald Trump and his whisperer Elon Musk, are making themselves increasingly unpopular. Trump mentioned that Ukraine might soon no longer exist anyway and Musk was heard to call the Polish foreign minister a "little man". To an outsider, the public spat doesn't exactly sound like a promotional event for Tesla. 

The Kremlin will sit back and relax and think, let the Western world tear itself apart, we'll cull the pearls later. 

German politicians are making it easy for you. They talk grandiloquently about a billion-euro programme for infrastructure and defence and then the political votes of the Greens are missing, they don't want to agree to the programme without further ado, so they have to renegotiate, but that's the way it is in a democracy. 

We hope for democratic forces and wish you a good start to the new working week in the sunshine.
