The railway is now set to make real progress. The German state is investing record sums in the rail network. In 2025, 75 % more is to be invested in the rail network than in the previous year. However, this alone will not be enough. The examples of Austria and Switzerland show that, in addition to financing over several years, planning must also continue in order to make the railway fit for the future.
